I am a self taught photographer who grew up watching my Grandmother, Rachel Torsey, photographing flowers in her garden and documenting all kinds of family events with her little box style camera. My beloved Grandmother passed just 4 months before my 16th birthday leaving me her little box camera. That little camera was such a big part of her that I cherish it beyond words. I spent tons of money on film, batteries, and film developing in the years following my acquisition of the camera. However, I wanted more than just ordinary pictures. My grandpa, George Luciano, whom I never met did photography as a hobby. Grandma, Caterina Luciano, told me that he often did photo manipulation. Of course home computers weren't invented in his lifetime and were just barely making an appearance when I was a kid. Photo manipulation back then meant manually manipulating the photos through multi colored lenses, raw film manipulation, clever angles, and physically cropping the finished photos. By the time I was an adult I had amassed an entire room full of manual photo manipulation devices and cameras. As my second child entered the picture personal computers and digital cameras were beginning to become more common and more affordable as well. This is when I began my new journey into digital manipulation and photography. Besides being a self taught photographer I have a residential design degree from The Art Institute Of Pittsburg along with an associate's degree in business administration from Hesser College. At the Art Institute I studied art, design, and drafting graduating on the Dean's list. At Hesser College one of my studies was in advertising. I graduated Hesser College on the President's list and Phi Theta Kappa. I also attended and completed the Charlene Mason Real Estate Seminars after which I obtained my Realtor status. I'm a published writer with works mostly in journalism and poetry. I proudly own Black Cat Sweeps LLC which is our family chimney company based in my home state of Maine. My grandfather, Leon Torsey, was the writer whose pen name was Doc Of District 13. I have adopted his pen name and use it often in my works. My dad, George Luciano, was a Chiropractor for whom I did medical billing so I am also HIPAA certified. My mom, Nettie Torsey Luciano, was dad's receptionist and had owned a book store named Nettie's Book Nook. I grew up surrounded by writers, book enthusiasts, business owners, and photographers so my knowledge far proceeds my many years of work and education.
